about

Incorporation:

All sounds played, programmed and pulled into place by Steve Fairclough except the drums on 'In Vino Veritas' which were coaxed into submission by the ever wonderful Mr Pete Riley.

The album is a celebration of found elements.
What do I mean by found elements?
For example the last five chords from the demo pads of an old Korg M3,
The random lines of a snake Davis sample set,
The example solo from EZ Drummer software (which is the basis of Reloader)
Sound effects sample CDs,
Old scraps of ideas wrenched from recalcitrant hard drives.

All the heads were written by Steve Fairclough.

The album is an experiment with the Triple Play guitar synth.
Each solo was committed to tape in one take.
The idea was a 'stream of consciousness' approach which allowed me to concentrate on the solo as a composition.
Each solo was recorded and thanks to Triple Play, a midi recording was made alongside it. The art was then to go back and manipulate the midi track to add synths and saxes etc.
It seemed stupid to go back and try to craft a perfect solo, when much of what I enjoyed was the little unexpected noises from the synth engines, so I avoided the temptation to clean up and I’m glad I did.

To this end, as my old buddy Buster B Jones would say,
"Here you have it mistakes an all..."
